I love quick wreaths that give my door a little extra holiday fun, but don’t have to be stored from year to year {read: I throw them away after the season has ended}. This DIY Paper Straw Wreath has minimal investment, but really is pretty cute. You can choose any color, but I chose to use red and white to represent candy canes.
You’ll Need:
Pencil
12″ flat floral ring or 12″ piece of cardboard cut into a circle with the center cutout.
Red ribbon
Scissors
Hot glue gun
glue sticks
1 box of paper straws {you’ll need about 125 straws}
Piece of ribbon
Small hook
Directions:
Trace a 12 inch circle on to cardboard and then an 8 inch circle inside of that and cut the center circle out.
Wrap with the cardboard ring with red ribbon and then hot glue ribbon in place {you just want it to be red so the cardboard doesn’t show through the straws}.
Start by gluing the straws onto the ribbon wrapped form. Place the first straw so that the end is flush with the inner ring of the floral ring base.
Continue around the wreath, making sure to line the ends of the straws up flush with the center of the wreath. Once you have glued all the straws on to the form go back and trim every other straw to about 2/3rds the original length. That should complete the wreath. Next hot glue a small hook to the back of your wreath so you’ll be able to have a way to hang the wreath.
Add a ribbon {maybe even an ornament} and hot glue it to the front of your paper straw wreath and you are all set.
Cute, right?
