Albertsons $ 29.74
Remember the good old days when Albertsons took double coupons? I totally forgot to snap a picture of the groceries I purchased from Albertsons this past week so I thought I would pull up this golden oldie instead. Back at the height of the double couponing craze I would get up at 4 am to clip and organize all my coupons so I could be at the store at 5 am when it opened.
Then I had to gather all the deals {I never cleared shelves, but I did pre-order groceries though an assistant manager} and then stand in line at the cash register. On a good day I’d be first in line. On a bad day I’d still be standing in the checkout line 2 hours later waiting for other couponers to purchase their groceries. {The store I shopped at would open a line specifically for crazy couponers so the “normal” shoppers wouldn’t have to wait in line}.
It took a lot of planning {and a lot of time} to get that many groceries for just $7.24. Looking back, it was nuts. And we ate a ton of processed crap. These days I gladly pay 4 times that amount for about a 10th of the food. I know this is going to sound kind of strange, but I’m glad my shopping habits have changed.
With careful planning I am able to feed my family for roughly the same amount {give or take a few hundred dollars a year} without having to feed them a bunch of processed food with ingredients and preservatives I can’t pronounce and you know what? It feels good.
People change. And so do their shopping habits. 🙂
Here’s what else I purchased this week:
I love ordering from Vitacost! Not only do they have great prices on organic, gluten free and healthy foods, but they also give you a $10 credit when you refer a friend {and your friend gets a $10 off $30 coupon}. This past week I was able to order everything you see above plus earn 4% cash back when I placed my order through Ebates.
Amazon – Free thanks to Swagbucks. 🙂
It had been a while since I checked my Swagbucks account so I was pleasantly surprised when I found out I had enough points for a $50 amazon gift card sitting there. I haven’t used swagbucks in a while but I think it’s still a great way to earn some extra moolah.
Smith Brother’s Milk Delivery $11.16
I forgot to snap a photo of this weeks Smith Brother’s milk delivery so I’m using one from a few weeks ago. Even though having milk delivered costs a little more, it really has cut down on my trips to the grocery store {and the impulse buys that go along with it} so for now we are still going to continue to have our milk delivered. Once The Girl goes off to college though, I may have to cancel it because we won’t meet the $10 weekly minimum. We’ll see.
So how did YOU do this week? Did you snag any deals?
