I am your typical housewife living in high maintenance suburbia. I have a handsome husband, 2 kids and a flock of pet chickens. I try and feed my family with $100 a month. With the help of coupons, gardening and bartering I am able to squeeze the most out of our grocery budget and still manage to have a little fun along the way.

Once I had had my fill inside working on cleaning and decluttering, I went outside to dig.

Have you ever smelled rotting cabbage before? Well if not it ranks right up there with the smell of old basketball shoes worn by teenage boys who don’t change their socks regularly. Ā Holy cats! The smell is enough to knock you out.

mavis butterfield gardenSo after removing all the slimy cabbage bits I hauled in a few wheelbarrows of topsoil from a nearby garden bed I dismantled. I was about halfway done when I heard my hottie of a UPS driver roll into the driveway.

Not only did my online boyfriend Ryan send me all the seeds on my 2014 seed order, he also sent along a bunch of loot for me to share {I smell a giveaway coming}. How cool was that? šŸ™‚

Easy Crock Pot Recipes - Curried Almonds

I know I’ve had almost a month to recover, but I’m still a bit hungover from all the Christmas crapity crap I ate. I think I jacked up my metabolism because I find myself constantly wanting to snack and never on good healthy foods! So I needed a healthy recipe right at my fingertips to shove in my mouth when I get the munchies.

These almonds were perfect! And so good I want to marry them.

Ingredients

2 tablespoons melted butter
1 tablespoon curry powder
1/2 teaspoon seasoning salt
1 lb blanched almonds

Directions

Mix butter, curry and seasoned salt. Pour mix over the almonds in crock pot and toss to coat well. Cover and cook on low for 2 to 3 hours. Turn to high, uncover pot, mix and then continue cooking for about another hour.
