Originally I had planed on growing food in the greenhouse all winter, but once the main crops had been harvested outside, and the rain started in about a month ago, I kept on forgetting to water the plants inside the glass house. Shame on me.
So today I cleaned out the greenhouse. I emptied the dried out, soil filled gutters onto the compost heap, and then lined them up along side the greenhouse.
I’ll scrub the gutters down in a few weeks once I figure out what I’ll be growing in the greenhouse next.
Some of the food in the greenhouse was still edible, so we let the chickens free range for a few hours while we removed the pots, pallets, gutters and excess dirt.
Does anyone know if chickens can smell? Because as soon as I started pulling Swiss chard and spinach from the greenhouse, Black Fatty and her crew came running.
Life is good!
