Ever since my free upgrade to an Ocean Front Cottage on Cape Cod, I’ve been kind of obsessed with the Cape Cod vacationing culture. There are hundreds of family who are deeply rooted in the tradition of Cape Cod summers. Let me tell you, Bob, now I totally get why. There is an indescribable atmosphere to the place. So, when I ran across Starboard Light, a documentary about a family who sells their 200 year-old Cape Cod vacation home, I totally put it on my list. {If you have Netflix, it’s free to stream.} I have a feeling it might be a tear-jerker.
Let me know what you think if you decide to watch it–or if you have already seen it.
Peace out Girl Scouts & have yourself a great weekend,
~Mavis

On my recent “business trip” with the HH, we decided to stop off at the Cable Car Museum in San Francisco before catching a cab out to the Japanese Tea Gardens in Golden Gate Park.
Since cable cars are kind of THE iconic representation of San Francisco, it seemed fitting that we check out the history.
The museum chronicles the history of the cable car from 1873 right up to now, and features some of the first cable cars.

It also explains the mechanics behind the cars, which really got the HH’s blood pumping.
The museum houses a gift shop with everything cable car. I kind of wanted one of the bells…and then I realized one, why? What the heck would I do with it, and two, that I am not spending anything this year.

It’s totally free, so be sure to stop by if you are in the area. And please, if you do decide to ride a cable car while you’re in the city…. resist the urge to belt out “Rice a Roni, the San Francisco treat.” The poor cable car conductor has already heard it about 10 million times. Not that I did that or anything and found out the hard way or anything. 😉
