Yesterday The Girl and I took Lucy the puggle princess to the vet for her yearly check up. It’s a two person job I tell you. A two person job.
Lucy has been kicked out of every nail salon in town so we have to get her nails trimmed at the veterinarian’s office. She simply does not like people touching her feet {and really, who can blame her?!} and it usually takes 2 techs to get the job done. One to hug her tightly and the other to do the nails.
Yada yada yada, anytime we go near the building she tends to freak out a little and once we get her in the door the peeps there end up bribing her with bits of dog biscuits to distract her. Yesterday was no different.
When it came time to weigh Lucy she wanted no part of the big dog {walk on} scale so they had to pull out the baby scale.
Surprise surprise…
At Lucy’s last checkup she weighed 28.5 pounds. This time around she weighed in at 25.5 pounds. Roughly 11% less! The vet said her weight was PERFECT. Gee… I wonder how that happened? Could it possibly be because we were out of town for 7 weeks and the HH and Monkey Boy weren’t slipping her extra treats? Hmmm. I wonder. 😉
Snacks. They add up!

Okay, okay. So I realize I have mislead you in the past. I might have posted a recipe before that I swore was the best chocolate chip cookie recipe on the planet. I lied. Well technically it wasn’t a lie because I had never used this recipe before. And had I baked these babies up, this is the recipe I would have been raving about. Because it’s hands down the best thing you’ll try all week (month? year?). Crispy on the outside, chewy and chocolaty on the inside. Be still my heart.

One of the stops the HH and I made on our epic cross country road trip was Sturgis, South Dakota. If you’ve never heard of it, I am going to guess right off of the bat, you aren’t a motorcycle enthusiast, but stick with me because neither am I. I had only heard how the town comes alive every year during the Sturgis motorcycle rally, and thought since we were headed by, we should stop and see what the hub-bub was all about.
Basically, once a year, people travel from all over the country on a roadtrip of their own, just to land in this small town. It’s all about the seeing the country with the wind in your hair and then converging at one spot to live, eat and breathe motorcycles. Since I am all about an adventure, I can totally respect it.
We stopped off at the Sturgis Museum first thing. They actually allow pets inside!!! The museum opened in 2001, and is open all year long. It’s obviously completely centered around motorcycles, so if you are a fan, you’ll get to see some pretty rare bikes and learn all about motorcycle history.
Lucy and I walked downtown while the HH soaked up a little more of the museum. It was basically deserted, but I could totally see how the town would come alive when thousands of people head in for Sturgis.
Just in case you are in the neighborhood, here’s the deets:
