With the help of coupons, gardening and bartering I am able to squeeze the most out of our grocery budget and still manage to have a little fun along the way.

Could a Chicken Be Considered a Household Pet?

So.

Silly me. I just assumed chickens were not allowed.

I went through the HOA guidelines today and read this:

“No animals or reptiles of any kind shall be kept on the properties, except that of dogs, cats, or other household pets may be kept on any lot. No animal may be kept, bred, or maintained for any commercial purpose.”

Couldn’t a couple of HEN’s be considered household pets? According to Wikipedia they are.

I’m pretty sure I could place an Eglu {that has a height of just 31″} behind the garden beds. They wouldn’t be visible AT ALL FROM THE ROAD.

Hmmm.

The beauty of being a blogger is that I have a platform to share whatever noteworthy topic that pops into my head. Sometimes, the crazy stories I come across on the inter-web or the random thoughts that pop into my mind aren’t really noteworthy at all {on their own}. They usually make me pause, laugh, or just plain roll my eyes and I go on about my day.

So, without further ado, here’s this weeks edition of Random Goodness from Around the Web:

A Domino Effect Like You’ve Never Seen

First, I want to work at this place {Aaron’s} with a boss who thinks that trying to set a Guinness world record for the largest human mattress domino chain is a great way to spend your time. Seriously. How fun would that place be?! Second, this is really just the coolest thing. 1,200 domino mattresses! The successful attempt was aided by a dominoes expert and certified by a Guinness World Record adjudicator. The previous record had been 1,150.

Aaron’s CEO John Robinson pushed over the first mattress and it took 13 minutes and 38 seconds for the final mattress to fall. I so wish I could have seen that. Want to know what else is awesome about this? The company will be donating all 1,200 mattresses to organizations focused on ending poverty and providing shelter to homeless families. Pretty awesome!

I’m Seeing Double, Wait Triple, Wait…

Remember how “the dress” broke the internet? Well this isn’t inciting quite the furry that did, but it’s getting there. The internet is losing its mind over how many girls are in this picture. 2 girls? 2 sets of twins? Lots of mirrors? What do you think?

Wow. This is the coolest thing I have seen in forever. Technology is so freakin awesome. Watch the video and try telling me you don’t want to at least test one out, much less own your one. This pen is so rad!!

The Mask That Will Give Sweet Lucy Nightmares for Life

A few weeks ago I posted about a creepy horse head masks and a reader pipped up that they also had pug masks. Seriously. It’s a real thing. I’m trying to figure out what posses people to buy these things, until I realized that if I wasn’t do a no spending month/year, I’d probably buy one, too. Because it’s a freakin pug mask people!
