Master Bathroom Remodel Ideas | What Do You Think?

Yesterday I stopped by a house Chino the Handyman recently completed and fell in love with the master bathroom. Girly Girl designed it of course {she has such good taste}.

The layout of the double vanity is about the same size as the outdated one we have now. I LOVE the color of the cabinets, but I’m not so much in love with the linen cupboard to the right of the unit. It feels like the person using the sink on the right side would feel a bit squished while brushing their teeth {first world problems I know}. So I’m thinking maybe an extra row of drawers and a little more counter space would be a better fit for us.

I also think those 12″ x 24″ tiles look pretty groovy as well.

Moving on to the mirror. Now normally, I am a big fan of framed mirrors, but this one, set on a penny tile background has just enough bling factor to make you feel like you’re in a hotel bathroom suite. Comfortable, but not too flashy. Or trendy.

The sinks are pretty fabulous too. {I would go with a chrome faucet instead of bronze hardware though}.

And then there is the tub and shower area. Don’t you just love that built in shelf? I think I might need one of those. I’m not exactly sure what I’d put in there, but it looks cool.

Here’s a close up of the penny tile as well as the tile they used on the floor. What do you think? I like how Chino and Girly Girl used the same tile throughout the entire bathroom. It seems pretty neutral, but not boring, or plain. I think 3 -5 years from now this look will still be in style.

Oh, and the toilet room. I would have a higher toilet in there of course. 😉

Yes the bathroom is for us, but there is the re-sale factor to consider here as well. So my questions to you are:

1. Do you think the color of the cabinets are too dark?

2. Do you like the penny tile/mirror combo? Do you think it’s too flashy? Too trendy?

3. What do you think about the built in shelf above the bathtub? Cool? Useless?

4. Tile counter tops… love, hate? {12″ x 24″ were used}

It’s getting down to crunch time and we’ll need to order the supplies for our bathroom remodel soon. So thanks in advance for all you help. You rock!

This morning I watched a YouTube video made by a 10 year old to learn how to add the emoji icons on to my phone keyboard. HILARIOUS! Kids are so dang smart I tell you. 🙂 Anywho, I posted a picture of Princess Lucy the Puggle Dog. She’s the best dog ever you know.

Kid-Approved Crunchy Fish Stick Recipe

I know those store bought fish sticks are a staple in many American kitchens. I get it. They are fast and easy, and kids gobble them up. But if you read some of those labels, the contents will shock you. Not the best thing to be feeding small bellies {or any sized bellies for that matter!}. So here is a healthier version that kids will still love!

Ingredients

1 cup bread crumbs {you could use seasoned for an extra kick!}
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon lemon pepper seasoning
1 cup flour
2 eggs, lightly beaten
1.5 pounds cod fillets, cut into strips

Directions

Preheat oven to 400F. Mix bread crumbs, salt, paprika and lemon pepper, and pour onto a large plate {plates with raised edges or lips woke best}. Place flour and egg in separate shallow bowls. Make a fish stick assembly line, placing the flour plate first, followed by the egg bowl, the bread crumb bowl and a baking sheet {coated with cooking spray}. Dip the fish first in the flour, then the egg and then the break crumb mixture, pressing the fish into the coating to help it stick. Carefully place now coated fish sticks on a baking sheet and bake for about 12 minutes, turning once. Fish sticks are done when the fish flakes when cut. Enjoy!

A New Year and Thoughtful Spending With the 3/50 Project

Have you heard of the 3/50 Project? It’s basically a grass roots attempt to save local businesses from getting pushed into extinction by national chain stores. You are supposed to ask yourself, “what THREE independently owned businesses would you miss if they disappeared?” Then, it gives the statistic that if just 1/2 of the employed population would spend $50 each month at a locally owned business, it would “generate more than $42.6 billion in revenue.”

The general idea is that if you spent $50 a month at 3 separate local businesses, you would create a pretty significant impact. Here’s the statistics they throw out: “For every $100 spent in independent stores, $68 of it returns to the community through taxes, payroll, and other expenditures.” Compare that to only $43 at a national chain store.

So, if the new year has got you thinking about how to have a more meaningful impact with your spending, you may want to give the 3/50 project a try.
