Every once in a while, I go through a documentary kick.  So when someone recently suggested Tim’s Vermeer, I put it on my to-watch list. It’s about a modern day artist that tries to figure out the art of Vermeer–which to be honest, I had never even thought to consider until I saw the intricacy in the trailer.  Documentaries rock.

Pretty Much the Best Story I’ve Read All Week

gobi dogI don’t know about you, but I am so sick of turning on my computer lately. It seems like the only thing news sites are talking about are the tragic events happening all over the world lately and politics. It’s draining, and I thank my lucky stars I don’t watch cable tv.

But then I read a story this morning about a tiny stray dog that decided to crash an extreme 155 mile race in the Gobi desert and it’s had me smiling ever since.  The dog {which has been appropriately re-named Gobi} followed one of the runners and ran alongside him for 77 miles of the 155 mile race!!! Can you believe that? The race took place over 7 days and on day 2 and 3 the dog ran both 25 mile legs. {I can’t even get Lucy to run 1 mile, let alone 25 on back to back days}.

gobi race dogAnywho, after a little bit of crowdfunding on the part of the runner, Gobi will be moving to Scotland to join him just as soon as she has been medically checked, quarantined and cleared for entry. Wahooo! Way to go you sweet little pup.

We need more stories like this.

Random Goodness from Around the WebThe beauty of being a blogger is that I have a platform to share whatever noteworthy topic that pops into my head.  Sometimes, the crazy stories I come across on the inter-web or the random thoughts that pop into my mind aren’t really noteworthy at all {on their own}.  They usually make me pause, laugh, or just plain roll my eyes and I go on about my day.  

So, without further ado, here’s this weeks edition of Random Goodness from Around the Web:

RIP VCR

I’m not sure why this makes me so sad, but it does. So many good memories of popping in a classic VHS tape. I understand digital is awesome and Blu-ray is amazing, and I totally agree, but is anyone else the slightest bit sad to see the VCR go by the wayside? I can’t be alone in this? Friday night movies around the VCR waiting FOREVER for it to rewind!?

I just threw up a little in my mouth. Taco Bell (which I know is beloved by many) is coming out with a Cheetos and fake cheese sauce burrito. It’s like all of the worst foods on planet earth got together and had a baby. That’s what that burrito will be. Who’s brave enough to try it? I’m sure Monkey Boy will and I’ll let you know how he likes it. Gag.

I realize it’s like 100 degrees all over the US today, and snow is the last thing on your mind. But I figured just thinking about winter might help cool you off. Plus, guess what cool contraptions I found?  An Ideal Sno-Brick Maker and an Ideal Sno-Ball Maker. They are real things and I’m sure they’ll take your snow fort or snowball fight to the next level. I came across one of the first pictures we ever took of Lucy yesterday and my heart totally melted. Where does the time go? Just look at those sweet little eyes. Not a grey hair in sight. What a cutie!!!
